Dr. David McCord is now an Emeritus Professor of Clinical Psychology at Western Carolina University. He received the B.A. in Psychology from Duke University in 1984, M.A. in Clinical Psychology from Western Carolina University in 1979, and Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from The University of Alabama in 1984, where he studied with Dr. Ray Fowler. He completed his pre-doctoral internship year in the School of Medicine, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1984, mentored by Dr. Charles S. Newmark. His publications and professional presentations focus generally on personality assessment and personality theory, with primary focus on the restructured MMPI instruments and, more generally, hierarchical-dimensional models of psychological dysfunction, psychological assessment, and behavioral health screening in primary care. He has served on the Editorial Boards of Psychological Assessment and Journal of Personality Assessment and is a frequent ad hoc reviewer for other journals. Dr. McCord is a Fellow of the American Psychological Association and Past-President of the Assessment Psychology section of Division 12.
