Dr. Angela Lamson, LMFT, a Nancy W. Darden Distinguished Professor at East Carolina University also serves as interim Assistant Vice Chancellor for Research Development. She co-created the first Medical Family Therapy PhD program in the nation. She has previously served as the program director for the Medical Family Therapy doctoral program and Marriage and Family Therapy master’s program, Director of the Medical Family Therapy Research Academy and Director of the Family Therapy Clinic at East Carolina University. She was Associate Dean for Research for the College of Health and Human Performance prior to holding the role of Interim Assistant Vice Chancellor for Economic & Community Engagement. She has secured about 8M in external funding through foundations, NSF, and DoD. She has funded more than 195 graduate students who have deployed integrated health practice and research, particularly in rural communities. Her collaborative, integrated care initiative with Contentnea Health earned ECU and Contentnea Health the 2024 C. Peter Magrath Community Engagement Scholarship award.
