Speaker Short Bio
Victoria Soltis-Jarrett is the Carol Morde Ross Distinguished Professor of PMHN at UNC-Chapel Hill School of Nursing. Dr Soltis-Jarrett has a sustained program of clinical practice, education/training, and scholarship that has evolved in the USA and internationally over the past 35 years. She has been awarded over $18 million on multiple federal and state grants since 2005 to educate/prepare new NPs, train the current healthcare workforce, and increase access to Whole Health Care, including the assessment and treatment of severe and persistent psychiatric/substance use disorders in rural NC. The TANDEM3-PC model (Soltis-Jarrett, 2017) is currently being implemented in several primary care sites across southeastern NC, bringing together the strengths of FNPs, AGNPs, and PMHNPs to work together to assess/manage the multiple, comorbid, and complex illnesses that disproportionately affect these communities in NC. Dr. Soltis-Jarrett has also established several innovative academic-practice partnerships that focus on developing clinical training sites for NP students and launching the first HRSA-funded NP Residency Program, which aimed to lead the Way in Behavioral Health Integration in North Carolina.
