Sara Wilson has worked in integrated care management for the last 10 years and is currently the Vice President of Care Management at a North Carolina Managed Care Organization where she has worked for the last 19 years. She is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with over 25 years’ combined experience in behavioral health, development disabilities, and care management leadership within public Medicaid managed care. She obtained her BSW from UNC Wilmington in 2001 and her MSW from USC Columbia in 2005. She has a proven record of program development, team leadership and budget oversight at executive level and a commitment to equitable, person-centered care and sustainable health outcomes.

She provides executive oversight for a care management department with over five hundred positions covering nearly one-third of North Carolina counties. Sara manages a multi-million-dollar annual budget aligning resources to meet contractual compliance and create member centric, cost-effective care. She leads strategy and execution of integrated care management for physical, behavioral, and LTSS populations and develops clinical protocol, workflows, and training for care managers and leaders. She does this while fostering a culture of transparency, vulnerability, and empowerment where staff are encouraged to share innovative ideas, identify opportunities for efficiencies, and a “fail-forward” approach where teams learn from mistakes and contribute to system improvement. Sara is the wife of a USMC veteran and mom to two girls, and she currently lives with her family in Waynesville, NC.
