Dr. Douglas Ribeiro is an Associate Professor of the Practice in the Human Development Counseling program within the Department of Human and Organizational Development at Vanderbilt University’s Peabody College. He brings over a decade of experience in counselor education, clinical training, and behavioral health workforce development. Before joining Vanderbilt, he served as Chair of the Department of Psychology, Counseling, and Family Science at Lipscomb University and led a $3.36 million federally funded initiative focused on behavioral health integration in primary care settings.
A licensed professional counselor and first-generation college graduate, Dr. Ribeiro earned his Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology from Georgia State University. His work is grounded in cultural humility and a commitment to increasing mental health access and reducing disparities in underserved communities. He is passionate about interprofessional education and training the next generation of clinicians to serve with competence, humility, and justice.
