Speaker Short Bio
I am a healthcare administrator with 10 years of programmatic and over 20 years of clinical experience in hospital and community-based mental health settings, with a focus on Spanish- speakers. My 13 years working in a psychiatry clinic helped me identify care gaps and sparked my interest in making behavioral health care more accessible. I then served as a Community Health Volunteer from 2009-2012 in Peace Corps Ecuador, where I supported health-focused integrated initiatives including suicide prevention and mental health programming at a public university. Since moving into administrative and program development roles in 2014, my work focuses on the integration of behavioral health integration and primary care to reach individuals who may not otherwise engage in care. I have worked on trauma-focused community research, facilitated the integration of primary care into NYS-run psychiatric clinics, and the integration of mental health into primary care clinics in Upper Manhattan. I am currently a Program Director in the NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital Division of Community & Population Health, where I lead Collaborative Care Programming and co-lead an Integrated Mental Health Program at the Columbia campus. I am Administrative Director of the NYP Ambulatory Care Network Opioid Overdose Prevention Program and lead quality/compliance work around behavioral health screening in primary care at Columbia and Cornell. I received a Master of Science in Social Work from Columbia University School of Social Work in 1996, and a Master of Public Administration from NYU Wagner School of Public Service in 2014. I hold independent clinical social work licensure in NYS and MA.
