Speaker Short Bio
I was born and raised in Venezuela. During my medical training, I focused on working with underserved communities, adopting a patient-oriented model of care. I value a holistic approach to health, ensuring that all aspects of a patient’s well-being are considered.

I have experience working at Columbia University in the Department of Global Mental Health, where I contributed to projects aimed at increasing access to mental health care in low- and middle-income countries.

At Duke, I continue to promote cultural awareness and work with underserved populations to improve access to care. I am also a recipient of the Diversity Leadership Fellowship from the American Psychiatric Association.

Alongside Dr. Aarons, we recognized the urgent need for mental health services within the farmworker population. With the support of the Farmworkers Mobile Clinic and in collaboration with community health workers and Dr. Modjulie Moore we are now implementing on-site mental health services, both remotely and in person, to help close this critical gap in care.
