Misty Schmidt is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and PhD Candidate at Texas Woman’s University, specializing in neurodivergence and Medical Family Therapy. Her dissertation and current research explore the lived experiences of neurodivergent clinicians and couples, with a focus on communication, authenticity, and relational connection in autistic and ADHD partnerships.
Misty serves on the Leadership Board for Families and Health Special Interest Group (SIG) within the Collaborative Family Healthcare Association (CFHA) and Executive Vice Chair of the Family Therapists in Schools Topical Interest Network (TIN) for the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy (AAMFT).
She has a strong background in integrated care and school-based mental health, having created and led an innovative internship program that places MFT trainees in rural public schools to increase access to systemic, family-centered mental health services. Her clinical and advocacy work centers on neuroaffirming, equity-driven approaches to therapy and supervision.
