This webinar describes the foundations of Focused Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (FACT) and its goal of promoting greater “psychological flexibility” (PF) in addressing problems of living. Participants will use the FACT Pillars Assessment Tool (PAT) to note changes in their personal PF in two contexts, one promoting approach behavior and the other avoidance. They will use two tools using a four-square format: Four Square Assessment (4 Square A) and Four Square Interventions (4 Square I). In contrast to a diagnosis and treat approach, Dr. Robinson will describe functional assessment. Does a behavior function to help a person avoid an aversive experience? Does a behavior function as an appetitive, drawing the patient in an important direction? The FACT Four Square I worksheet provides an array of learning experiences to help enhance knowledge and learn skills that enhance PF, paving the way for big change.
