The webinar will start with the end in mind, that being behavioral variability. The creation of behavioral variability starts with how a clinician prepares the patient for a FACT visit. Participants will craft and practice a beginning statement that prepares the patient for radical change. Additionally, they will reflect on the decision to use or not use measurements to inform their care. Then, participants will practice using the FACT Can-Do Plan to assess the quality of several behavioral experiments. Once these bookends and barometers are in place, participants will roleplay an initial visit while sensing the Flow on the visit.
The flow of a FACT visit shares the qualities of an hourglass in that it begins broad, narrows and then finishes broad. Indeed, the goal of FACT is to help someone get the sand in the hourglass of life flowing, and, more, to teach them how to right the hourglass of life should it topple over again. Participants will use many of the FACT practice forms (Contextual Interview, Rating Scale Questions, Focus Questions, etc.) as they first view a role play and then practice an initial FACT visit.
Objectives
After the webinar, participants will be able to:
- Provide a 3-minute description of the FACT flow.
- Provide a visit introduction that prepares a person for a FACT visit.
- State reasons for using brief measures integrated into the visit flow to inform clinical decision making.
- Use the FACT Can Do Plan to assess the quality of a plan or behavioral experiment that develops in a FACT visit.
- Use the Problem Context section of the Contextual Interview (CI) to develop a functional understanding of the problem or issue concerning a patient.
- Use the FACT focus questions to check for understanding information from the CI that informs formulation of possible interventions.
