Additional Information
Our Integrated Primary Care Postdoctoral Residency program’s overall goal is to train competent, ethical, and self-aware psychologists, who have acquired the requisite knowledge and skills for the practice of professional psychology. As a resident, you will learn to focus on the patient from a whole-person perspective consistent with a biopsychosocial spiritual conceptualization and engages in a wide variety of clinical activities which are required of a psychologist in an Integrated Primary Care setting as a Behavioral Medicine Consultant (BMC). Our program is firmly rooted in the practitioner-scholar model, thus, we emphasize experiential learning with a strong emphasis on scholarly approach and research as a means of informing the clinical practice. While this postdoctoral residency is NOT part of the APPIC membership nor is it APA accredited, we are initiating accreditation in the upcoming 2025-2026 cycle.
Your experience as CVCH as a postdoctoral resident will be fast paced and allow you ample opportunity to develop a diverse array of health psychology skills. We utilize a bio-psycho-social-spiritual clinical framework anchored in trauma-informed care to meet the needs of our community; providing brief intervention as well as long-term therapy for individuals, couples, families, and groups of all ages and from diverse backgrounds (with special emphasis on populations that are rural, underserved, and frequently marginalized, with high incidence of trauma and PTSD, and/or facing complex health disparities). Postdoctoral residents also have the opportunity to train alongside medical residents training in rural family medicine from the University of Washington in our Lake Chelan location, creating a unique cohort of interdisciplinary learners.
