Description
The Institute for Integrated Behavioral Health APPIC-accredited Fellowship is part of a model program for integrated behavioral health in the region. We seek ambitious candidates who plan to be healthcare innovators and leaders - at East Tennessee State University, in Northeast Tennessee, anywhere! Fellows function as junior faculty and Behavioral Health Consultants using the Primary Care Behavioral Health model. In addition to clinical practice, fellows provide training to on-site medical residents and other interprofessional learners.
We are accepting 3 new postdoctoral fellows at East Tennessee State University’s College of Medicine for 2026-2027. You will train in a well-established, model program in integrated behavioral health serving patients in rural Appalachia. As part of a new grant program, you will collaborate with a team of national experts at the Addiction Science Center to support and develop programming in integrated primary care settings to address prevention and recovery. You can “design your own adventure” by selecting major and minor tracks to build an experience that will launch your career.
The Institute for Integrated Behavioral Health provides an evolved experience that focuses on developing your skills in leadership, community engagement, and working in a policy/advocacy role. Questions can be directed to Dr. Jodi Polaha, Director, Institute for Integrated Behavioral Health (polaha@etsu.edu).
Primary tracks include:
- Addiction Medicine
- Pediatrics
- Family Medicine
- Internal Medicine
- Obstetrics/Gynecology
Minor tracks include:
- Research/Evaluation
- Community Based Recovery Programs
- Programs for Incarcerated Individuals
- Research and Advocacy
