Speaker Short Bio
Tisha Deen, Ph.D., is an Associate Professor at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) in the departments of Psychiatry and Internal Medicine. She is the Director of Behavioral Health Integration with the UAMS Primary Care and Population Health Service Line. She also supervises psychology interns in integrated behavioral health. She is the program director for a 5-year SAHMSA grant to implement Collaborative Care and Primary Care Behavioral Health across the UAMS system (16 primary care clinics)
Dr. Deen worked for 5 years as a clinical psychologist in primary care mental health integration (PCMHI) psychologist with the Central Arkansas Veterans Healthcare System (CAVHS). She has had training in implementation facilitation and has worked as an implementation facilitator to implement evidence-based practices into medical settings at the local, regional, and national level. She also worked for three years at the Little Rock Community Mental Health Center and specialized in Dialectical Behavior Therapy for person’s diagnosed with borderline personality disorder.
Dr. Deen has also been active in the Arkansas Psychological Association and the American Psychological since graduate school. She is current President of ArPA president and currently serves as the chair of the Government Relations Committee and as the Federal Advocacy Coordinator for Arkansas. Dr. Deen is also a Co-Chair of the CHFA CoCM Special Interest Group.
She received her bachelor’s in psychology and master’s and doctorate degrees in clinical psychology at the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville. Dr. Deen completed her clinical internship in the UAMS Psychiatric Research Institute. She continued her training as a VA Health Services Research and Development (HSR&D) postdoctoral fellow in the Center for Mental Healthcare and Outcomes Research (CeMHOR) at CAVHS.
In her free time, she enjoys spending time outdoors on the many scenic trails that Arkansas has to offer. She also loves spending time with her family and her two cats.
