Hernan Barenboim, PhD, PCC, LMFT, is the Behavioral Science Director and Associate Professor of Penn State Family Medicine in Reading, PA. Originally from Buenos Aires, Argentina, where he is a registered psychologist, Dr. Barenboim moved to the U.S. to complete his PhD in Medical Family Therapy at Saint Louis University and a fellowship at the Chicago Center for Family Health. With over 20 years of clinical experience, his work spans psychotherapy for individuals and families, supervision of mental health students, and teaching culturally informed behavioral science to family medicine residents.
As an ICF Professional Certified Coach (PCC), Dr. Barenboim is a passionate advocate for using coaching to transform medical culture. He focuses on supporting physicians, healthcare workers, and executives to foster resilience and leadership across the system. Furthermore, he is deeply committed to the education and formation of future coaches, developing specialized training pathways to meet the evolving needs of the healthcare workforce. Dr. Barenboim also serves as a national and international consultant in health equity, cultural competence, and integrated care.
