Christina B. Shook, PsyD, ABPP is a Program Manager with the VA Center for Integrated Healthcare (CIH) within the Department of Veterans Affairs Office of Mental Health and Suicide Prevention. She leads VA’s congressionally mandated implementation of peer support staff in Primary Care Mental Health Integration (PCMHI) and primary care settings. Prior to her role as program manager, she served as one of the Integrated Care Expansion Leads for Mental Health Integration into Specialty Medicine Clinics and an Education and Implementation Specialist, providing expertise and consultation related to integrated care initiatives nationwide. She has specialized interest in behavioral pain medicine and behavioral sleep medicine, implementation science, and much of her work focuses on the strategic design, coordination, and expansion of integrated care into system-wide practice. Prior to her work with CIH, she held organizational leadership roles in a private healthcare system within quality, behavioral pain medicine, funded research, and the implementation of integrated care throughout the entire healthcare system. Dr. Shook began her VA career in a Medical Psychology Internship at VA North Texas Healthcare System and a Postdoctoral Fellowship in PCMHI at the Salem VAMC. After postdoc she developed and lead the PCMHI and Behavioral Medicine programs at the Lebanon VAMC, simultaneously building the foundation for their clinical training program.
Dr. Shook is a Board-Certified Clinical Health Psychologist and Fellow of the American Academy of Clinical Health Psychology (AACHP), currently serving as Past President of AACHP. She is an active member of the American Psychological Association (Divisions 38 and 18). She has been a mentor and supervisor to psychology and medical students for over 10 years, holding multiple academic appointments over the course of that time. She received a Doctor of Psychology and Master of Science from the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine, as well as a Master of Arts in Applied Clinical Psychology from the Pennsylvania State University.
