Speaker Short Bio
I am staff psychologist at the Michael E. DeBakey Veterans Affairs (VA) Medical Center and Professor at Baylor College of Medicine, with an active health services research and education portfolio. My research interests relate to the implementation and scaling of evidence-based psychotherapies in non-traditional mental health settings such as primary care and community-based medical clinics. I have conducted numerous large federally funded grants and have published over 100 peer-reviewed manuscripts. As an educator I actively mentor learners from various professional backgrounds with a particular emphasis on fellows and junior faculty including service as a primary mentor for career development awardees.
I am currently the Associate Director for Improving Clinical Care at the South Central MIRECC (VA Mental Health Center of Excellence) where I lead efforts to improve mental health services, especially for underserved Veteran populations. In this role, I direct quality improvement and implementation-focused projects designed to enhance access to high quality mental health services.
