David F. Curtis, PhD is a Clinical Associate Professor and the Chief Behavioral Health Officer for the Tilman J. Fertitta Family College of Medicine. He is a licensed psychologist who works with children and families across primary care, outpatient, and school settings. He has been engaged in primary care behavioral health program development, implementation, and evaluation for over 18 years. His clinical and research interests focus on improving behavioral interventions for children with disruptive behavior problems, primary care-based behavioral health services and physician education, and reflective practices in clinical supervision and training.
Dr. Curtis completed his Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology at the University of Houston. He is a former J. William Fulbright Scholar to New Zealand and a former postdoctoral fellow at Harvard Medical School/Children’s Hospital, Boston. Before arriving at the University of Houston, Dr. Curtis served as the Behavioral Health Director at Austin Health Partners and Director of Psychology Training at the University of Texas Dell Medical School. Prior to these roles, he led the Pediatric Primary Care Psychology and ADHD Behavior Therapy programs at Baylor College of Medicine/Texas Children’s Hospital.
