Michael Clark, MD is the psychiatrist currently serving in Novant’s integrated care initiative with primary care practices across Greater Charlotte. Being board-certified in both Psychiatry and Child & Adolescent Psychiatry, he qualified to deliver care and consultation across the age range. Since completing a psychiatry residence and child psychiatry fellowship at UNC, Dr. Clark has gained broad experience over twenty-five years in the field of mental health. Initially he entered the private sector and delivered outpatient and inpatient care. During that time, Dr. Clark was medical director over an adolescent psychiatric unit at Alamance Regional Medical Center. Since 1999, he worked full-time in the public sector within The Guilford Center, eventually becoming medical director. There he also delivered care in their outpatient clinics and in their crisis/emergency unit, working to assure patient needs were met in the appropriate level of care. Later, he served as associate medical director for Partners Behavioral Health Management, the agency responsible for oversight and administration of public mental health, developmental disabilities and substance abuse services over an eight-county area. Within in the public sector, Dr. Clark had promoted integrated care through collaboration with CCNC, work within primary care settings, and development/support of integrated care/opioid initiatives.
In addition to the mentioned associations, Dr. Clark is also a member of the American Psychiatric Association and the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry.
