Katie Curran, MSW, LICSW, earned her Bachelor of Science in Sociology with a concentration in Criminology and Social Control from Appalachian State University, followed by a Master of Social Work at Simmons College where she found a passion for advocacy and testified on state legislation for social worker’s loan forgiveness as well as investing in communities of the Commonwealth. She was honored to participate in NASW’s Legislative Education Advocacy Day (LEAD) at the State House as a speaker on the importance of Loan Forgiveness for Social Workers.
Currently, Katie is a Behavioral Health Integration Manager for the Boston Children’s Hospital Pediatric Physicians Organization of Children’s (PPOC) serving the South Region of Massachusetts. Previously, Katie worked as a Behavioral Health Care Coordinator for an insurance company completing health assessments for new members with behavioral health needs, identifying and connecting members to community and health plan resources to assist in managing their mental health care in the community. Prior to this role, Katie worked as a Behavioral Health Clinician (BHC) at a PPOC practice in the South Region of Massachusetts where she found a passion for integrated behavioral health care. Katie has also led the Boston Children’s Hospital Emergency Psychiatry Service social workers as Lead Clinician while also serving as a supervisor for MSW and Psychology interns and co-chairing the Social Work Advocacy Group at Boston Children’s Hospital (BCH) providing testimony on the BCH Legislative Agenda Behavioral Health Priorities. In addition, Katie has held positions in inpatient psychiatry as well as outpatient clinics. Katie’s passion for teaching led her to serve as an adjunct professor at Simmons College at their Graduate Social Work program as well.
Outside of Katie’s professional roles, she enjoys spending time with her husband and two daughters.
