With passion and unwavering commitment, she has led the growth and development of this unique new model of care – with the goal to provide same-day access to mental health services embedded in the pediatrician’s office. This innovative model focuses on holistic whole-child care, providing early identification, early intervention, and early recovery for the mental health struggles of our San Diego and Riverside youth community. Since 2021, under the care of Dr. Bird, this program has growth from a handful of clinicians to a team of 30+, as has provided over 42,000 patient visits for over 8,500 unique patients across 12+ sites. Dr. Bird led the strategic vision of this exceptionally impactful new network of care, including a focus on clinical collaboration, inter-disciplinary education, training our future mental health workforce, supporting her pediatric colleagues and team engagement and provider wellness. Dr. Bird, with her team, has presented at over 15 conferences, nationally highlighting the importance of pediatric integrated-care. She has also successfully helped advocate in Washington D.C. for legislative reimbursement changes to expand this needed new model of care. Dr. Bird has an unwavering passion and dedication to improving the lives of our children through access, prevention and destigmatizing mental health, and will continue to help expand and scale this vision throughout our San Diego and Riverside communities and beyond.
