Mahsa Shahinbana is a third-year doctoral student pursuing a Ph.D. in Medical Family Therapy (MedFT) at East Carolina University (ECU). She holds a Master’s degree in Family Counseling from Allameh Tabataba’I University, Iran. With over four years of professional experience, she has worked extensively with families affected by pediatric cancer and has provided counseling in various university psychology clinics in Iran. She also has 1 year of experience working at ECU Health Family Medicine Center as a MedFT intern. Her research interests lie in emotion regulation, pediatric cancer, the dynamics between family and illness, and burnout in healthcare providers, specifically nurses. Her master’s thesis was about emotion regulation in marital relationships in couples with a child diagnosed with cancer. She is working on burnout and work-life balance in nurses for her PhD dissertation.
