Virmarie Díaz Fernández, MD, FAPA, is a board-certified psychiatrist and Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association with over eight years of clinical experience in general psychiatry, telepsychiatry, integrative behavioral health, and medical leadership. She is certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN) and is bilingual in Spanish (native) and English (fluent).
Dr. Díaz Fernández currently serves as National Medical Director of Psychiatry at Concert Health, where she leads psychiatric services within collaborative care models across diverse healthcare settings. She is the Founder and Psychiatrist at A Mindfulness Space and has held multiple leadership roles, including National Medical Director and Regional Medical Lead positions, as well as Clinical Advisor and Supervising Physician roles supporting integrated behavioral health programs nationwide.
She earned her Doctor of Medicine from the University of Puerto Rico School of Medicine and completed her psychiatry residency at the University of Central Florida/HCA Healthcare GME Consortium in Gainesville, Florida. Her clinical expertise includes women’s mental health, minority mental health, LGBTQ+ affirming care, substance use disorders, and integrative psychiatry. She has extensive experience in addiction treatment, including medication-assisted treatment and management of complex dual-diagnosis patients, as well as experience working with pediatric and adolescent populations.
Dr. Díaz Fernández’s work emphasizes expanding access to high-quality mental health care through telepsychiatry and collaborative care innovation. She has authored peer-reviewed publications, contributed to research in psychiatric education and LGBTQ+ health, and regularly provides continuing medical education (CME) for healthcare professionals. She has presented at national conferences, including the American Psychiatric Association Annual Meeting.
