Speaker Short Bio
Brian Stran-Joy is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Family Medicine and Community Health at UMass Chan Medical School, where he provides integrated primary care behavioral health services and as a behavioral health faculty member for UMass’ family medicine residency program. He also serves as a clinical preceptor for the Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) Fellowship and as a psychology practicum supervisor. His clinical and scholarly interests include evidence-based practice within primary care, geriatric behavioral health, and supporting normative lifespan development, and he is affiliate faculty with the Center for Accelerating Practices to End Suicide (CAPES). Stran-Joy earned his Ph.D. in counseling psychology from Western Michigan University and his M.A. in clinical psychology from Washburn University. He completed his predoctoral internship at the Dwight D. Eisenhower Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center and a postdoctoral fellowship in integrated behavioral health with Swedish Medical Group.
