Diana DiNitto is Cullen Trust Centennial Professor in Alcohol Studies and Education and a Distinguished Teaching Professor at the University of Texas at Austin Steve Hicks School of Social Work (SHSSW), a Fellow of the American Academy of Social Work and Social Welfare, and a National Association of Social Workers’ Social Work Pioneer. She has published extensively on substance use and mental health, especially among older adults, and is coauthor of Chemical Dependency: A Systems Approach, 4th ed. and Social Welfare: Politics and Public Policy, 8th ed. She is currently a member of the interdisciplinary faculty team leading two HRSA-funded training grants in integrated behavioral health related to youth and substance use. She served on the Grand Challenges of Social Work Executive Committee and is President of the Texas Research Society on Alcoholism. Among her recent recognitions are the Donna Harrington Mentorship Award by the Group for the Advancement of Doctoral Education in Social Work and an honorary doctorate from Tallinn University in Estonia for her contributions to doctoral education.
