Dr. Betül K. Cansever is a Marriage and Family Therapist and Assistant Professor in the Marriage and Family Therapy MS program at California State University, Chico. She earned her Ph.D. in Medical Family Therapy from East Carolina University, where her research focused on trauma, adverse childhood experiences (ACEs), and resilience in medical and mental health systems. Her clinical background includes interdisciplinary roles in U.S. and international hospital settings, including ECU Health Medical Rehabilitation Center and the pediatric neurosurgery team at Acıbadem Hospital in Istanbul. She brings a trauma-informed, relational approach to teaching, research, and therapy, with a deep commitment to fostering safety, creativity, and growth in the training of future clinicians. Dr. Cansever joined the MFT graduate program in Fall 2025 and is a registered Associate Marriage and Family Therapist (AMFT) in California.
