Katie Hilton, LPC, ACS, is a Senior Training and Consultation specialist who coordinates, develops and delivers professional trainings within the RUBHC Behavioral Research and Training Institute. Katie has extensive experience in working with individuals and families with unique and diverse backgrounds. She has been with UBHC since 2004 and specializes in the treatment of individuals with severe and persistent mental health diagnoses and substance use disorders and Integrated Care. Prior to joining the Behavioral Research and Training Institute, Katie headed the RUBHC Monmouth Junction mental health clinic, where she oversaw Adult Acute Partial Hospitalization and Traditional Outpatient Services in the role of Program Manager. She facilitates professional development events for Rutgers-UBHC, helping staff across the state who provide behavioral health services learn about person-centered, trauma informed care and evidenced based treatments. Katie has experience working on grant funded projects in partnership with SAMHSA, HRSA, the NJ Department of Labor and the NJ Department of Children and Families. With regards to her work with the DCF, Katie provides comprehensive Motivational Interviewing education by providing training to clinical staff and supervisory staff as well as MI skills practice sessions and BECCI/MITI coding supervision sessions. Katie is a member of the Center for Integrated Care at Rutgers Health, focusing on Education Development. She collaborates with the CIC team and works with the Integrated Care fellows in weekly meetings, didactic sessions and licensing supervision. Katie has worked to develop the annual Didactic training series to provide the fellows with learning opportunities on a variety of topics, including subject areas such as Behavioral Health, SUD, Medical Diagnoses, Implementation Science, the Integrated Care model and Healthcare Financing. She provides fellow support throughout the fellowship year to support staff in their clinical placements and collaborates with the Integrated Care partners. Over the past year, Katie has received a national certification from The National Child Stress Network to become a Psychological First Aid trainer.
