The PEER NC: NP-BHI traineeship, established in 2017, has been dedicated to addressing the healthcare disparities in rural North Carolina.The program’s curriculum equips Primary Care Nurse Practitioners (PC-NPs) and Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioners (PMH-NPs) with the expertise to manage behavioral health and substance use disorders within primary care settings. This presentation will elucidate the traineeship’s comprehensive structure and innovative approaches, which foster collaboration among nurse practitioners and their interprofessional team members. These collaborative efforts are instrumental in enhancing healthcare delivery and addressing the unique challenges faced by rural communities.
