Elizabeth ‘Beth’ Childs is the Director of Integrated Care at Piedmont Health Services (PHS). Beth leads the integrated primary care behavioral health programs within PHS, a Federally Qualified Health Center in NC. The behavioral health programs/pathways include Psychiatric Collaborative Care Model, Primary Care Behavioral Health, School Based Behavioral Health, and Psychiatric Consultation to primary care providers. Beth is passionate about the integrated care model within primary care, particularly due to its ability to reduce stigma, to highlight that emotional health is as important as physical health, and to increase overall access to behavioral health. She has worked in a variety of settings: inpatient psychiatry, outpatient therapy and community service organizations before her work in community health centers. Partnering with organizations to meet access needs is of particular focus at this time to bring the integrated care model and its outcomes to the community. Examples of current engagement includes: schools, hospitals, training and education programs, detention centers, and specialty clinics.
