Julie Payne, LMSW serves as the Behavioral Health Manager of Hope Clinic with the mission of addressing the whole person with medical, dental, food and basic needs, and behavioral health including the option of spiritual care. She graduated from the University of Michigan School of Social Work in 2007 has 17+ years of direct clinical experience with high-risk populations and 5+ years of managing clinical and case management teams of behavioral health professionals within the context of interprofessional care teams. Julie is proficient in conversational Spanish and has provided care to Spanish speaking patients and clients locally and internationally during an internship in Guatemala. Her internships and early on the ground experiences included domestic violence advocacy, SUD outpatient treatment, and in home/hospital counseling for pregnant and post-partum mothers. She has also served pregnant and post-partum incarcerated women as well as oversaw non-profit program services by Catholic Social Services of Washtenaw County to this population housed at the Women’s Huron Valley Correctional Facility in conjunction with Trinity Health System. Training other professionals, community members, and students to increase the quality of care provided is close to Julie's heart. She has been an active field instructor for the University of Michigan and other local institutions to train aspiring MSWs for the past 15 years. Throughout her career, she has presented on behavioral health and social service topics for professional training events at The University of Michigan, interdisciplinary healthcare training opportunities, faith-based collaboratives, and community meetings. In her current role, she manages an integrated behavioral healthcare team of seven staff members, multiple interns, and five professional volunteers within a community faith-based integrated free clinic in Ypsilanti, MI.
