Discussion Groups

Roundtable “Discussion Groups” are highly interactive and provide attendees ample time to share thoughts and ask questions about a topic. The concept is to exchange information around a particular subject and foster lively conversation among table guests.

HOW IT WORKS

  • A list of the Discussion Group topics and facilitators will be listed in the CFHA conference mobile app.
  • Discussion Group topics will be posted on a round tables in the Ballroom. Seats will be reserved for the designated Facilitator; up to 9 seats will be available for conference attendees.
  • Boxed lunches will be available at 11:45 as morning sessions adjourn. Conference registrants will pick up a lunch and find a seat at one of the 40+ tables holding Discussion Groups.
  • The Facilitator will begin discussions at 12:05. Start with a brief introduction about their experience and work in the subject – no more than 5 minutes.
  • Discussions end no later than 1:15 PM to allow transition time for afternoon sessions that convene at 1:30 PM.

Poetry and Prose Session

The Poetry and Prose session validates creative expression among the CFHA membership, encourages emotional reflection on the themes of healing and the life cycle, and creates intimacy and safety among colleagues. Facilitators promote constructive group discussions about the emotional responses generated by stories that are shared, giving presenters gentle feedback from a relatively diverse audience. We encourage authors to consider publishing their work in the Family Systems and Health, Sharing Our Stories (SOS) section.

Any interested CFHA conference attendee is invited to bring poems, short stories, or essays of a medical nature to the session. Readers first provide background on the situation that prompted the writing of the piece. The piece is then read. After a moment of reflection, audience members share with the reader their personal emotional responses to the piece. Many attendees are there to listen only. Facilitators and attendees share tips for writing and publishing.

Presenters are invited to have their narrative piece read, either by themselves or by someone designated by them who is attending the conference.

This session is accessible using Zoom.

Add Sessions to Your Agenda

The conference registration system and the conference mobile app use the same system (Swoogo). Sessions you add on your registration form, or when you modify your registration, or in the conference app, all show up in the app. It is easier to add sessions from a computer onto your registration than from the app if you want to use filters to search for sessions. For instance, if you are searching for pediatrics sessions, or some other tag/keyword...the online system is easier.

Note: You can select more than one session during the same time period. This allows you to mark all the sessions you are interested in. Once you make your final selection you can de-select the "extra" sessions. This allows you to keep a list of sessions you attend. That will come in handy later when getting CEUs.

Adding sessions and events to YOUR agenda - from the website
